The first expansion will occur in Chile.. We are very proud to release this expansion because it has been difficult to find a printer who is able to make two big heavy plasticized paper at a decent price for a small print run. As you know Chile is a long, narrow country with huge mountains. This expansion bestows an important role upon the yellow cubes, which represent gold.
Because Chile is twice as large physically as a standard expansion, we have produced two other expansions that fit on the back:
The first one will take place in Egypt and features many innovative rules, including a nice mechanism where flooding occurs on one part of the map.
The second will take place in CCCP. We have developed a completely different expansion than Michael's which changes the victory condition for the game in a new and depthy way. We will see how Communism will conquer the heart of Russia...
We think that this new set is nicely balanced, with small alteration of the basic system with the Chile expansion, medium modification with the CCCP and large modifications with the Egypt expansion.

Om Age of Steam: Egypt hedder det endvidere på BoardgameNews:
Age of Steam: Egypt brings players to the mother of all rivers, the Nile.
But while the Nile’s annual flooding helps keep the surrounding lands fertile, it’s a royal pain to potential rail barons as alternate banks flood on alternate turns, and building costs are high in flooded areas. What’s worse, unless you take the new Felluca action – a “felluca” being a sailboat used in ancient times – you also have to pay to deliver goods to flooded areas, which includes Baltim, a city that takes all goods yet is always flooded.
Other features include two spots on the board which have a pyramid of goods that can be shipped out only when all the items on higher levels have been removed. By building a path to Bur Sa’id, you recreate the building of the Suez Canal. The benefit? Bur Sa’id is the only yellow city on the board.

deres tidligere eksperimenter er ikke faldet i min smag, så dem køber jeg nok ikke fra i år.

Så er der mere om Age of Steam: Chile på BoardgameNews:

Alban Viard has passed along a few details about his Age of Steam: Chile, which be available in a limited edition at Spiel 08. The slender but lengthy South American country takes on a similar form in the game world as the gameboard is built from two sheets of plastic-coated paper laid end to end that together measure 32 cm x 102 cm.
The mountainous Chilean landscape has been recreated as well, with plains along the Pacific shore and hills and mountains inland. Says Viard, “Forty percent of the hexes are mountains costing $5, 40% are hills costing $3, and the rest cost only $2, so this is a very expensive map.”
To keep your expenses somewhat under control, you can try to discover and deliver Incan gold. Yes, the yellow cubes are all precious metal, and when you deliver them not only do you receive the standard income boost, but you also slide down one spot on the share track, saving you a buck a turn from then on and giving you three extra points at the end of the game! “We usually deliver 12-16 yellow cubes in our game, which means up to 16 shares being repaid – divided among the players, of course,” says Viard.

Re: Nye udvidelser til AoS fra Alban Viard
Og der er da også endelig kommet lidt nyt om den nye Age of Steam: CCCP Expansion:
http://www.boardgamenews.com/index.php/ ... ian_rails/
Kilde:Alban Viard has passed along details of the third of his three Age of Steam expansions that will be released at Spiel 08. Age of Steam: CCCP takes place in the Soviet Union, and in addition to moving goods and laying track, players want to be as red as possible because the player who delivers the fewest red cubes can’t win the game, no matter how good his score.
Don’t worry about the random distribution of goods at the start of the game because the state is ready to lend a hand. During setup, players place five red cubes on the Soviet flag. Anyone who takes the Communism action, which replaces Production, can place one of these red cubes anywhere on the board. What’s more, one black cube is placed on each black town during setup, and the Communism action also allows you to swap a black cube for a red one from the flag. Better red than dead!
